Dog liver shunt?
I have a 4yr old corgi who has a liver shunt. Currently he is not on any medications except for the Science Diet L/D. I was browsing through the smartpak website and found a supplement called Denosyl, which is for liver support. Do you think this supplement would benefit him?
Here is the write up for it from the website:
Denosyl has been shown to markedly increase liver glutathione levels in dogs and cats. However, Denosyl’s activities go far beyond just increasing glutathione levels. It has also been shown to protect liver cells from cell death and may help cell repair and healing. 90 mg for Cats and Small Dogs (Up to 12 lbs), 225 mg for Medium Dogs (13 to 34 lbs), or 425 mg for Large Dogs (Over 34 lbs). 30 Tablets.
These is a wonderful Yahoo Group for owners of dogs with liver problems called canineliver-d. I fostered a Corgi with liver issues, and they were very helpful and caring. I would suggest you join and ask you question there.
Good luck
Herbal Exprts? Combining supplements?
I was taking l-glutathione, alpha lipoc acid, and vitamin C. The results were great on my skin. I did not get lighter as some people claim, but my skin appearance, tone, etc were so much nicer and prettier, and I received compliments.
Well I ran out and was not taking it for several months. During this time, I began takiing coconut oil supplements, which were just as great for my skin and improved my appearance also, so I decided taking them all at one time would not hurt, and I began taking all the supplements.
The results are not quite the same at all while taking them all. However, I like the results of both when taken separately, and I think they all have their benefits.
should I take the coconut oil separately from the other supplements at different times of the day? I know sometimes the benefits are decreased by taking some supplements together at the same time, and it is recommended that you take some in the am and the others in the PM. What do you experts know about it?
Well, you’re absolutely right that those are all good for skin health, but I’m thinking what you ran into was an issue of too much skin support… I’ve run into that before. When I had the issue, I was taking 4 or 5 products for skin health because I have really dry skin and all of them together made my skin really healthy… but it got to be so much that it actually made my skin more oily and my skin was shedding (flaking off) with more frequency than it had before. I scaled it back to where I was only taking the few that worked well in combination for me and it’s MUCH better now.
I’d say to go back to whichever one(s) you felt better with and stick with just those… it seems that all 4 of those together are just too much for you. Good luck and I hope I helped!
I need ideas for my website …www.WalkTheUSA.com …?
I have a website www.WalkTheUSA.com …it’s on the subject of “walking” and staying healthy and fit … I want to get an idea what people are most interested in to attract them to my site. This is a "working Website" that I add to and take away from weekly ,,,I want to provide interesting useful information and helpful tips to give people who are interested in wanting to start a healthy life style. I have a good ‘cause’ that I am promoting "Children Affected by AIDS" and I am also promoting a great supplement, www.MaxGXL.com/133517 (Glutathione Accelerator)…any tips or ideas how I could make my website better would be greatly appreciated.
make a forum… put some guides. let people make online organizers on your site? maybe an online calender they can interact with..? Put videos on it. Tell people about how pollution effects your health. What fatty foods do (going in depth really helps alot) AND put lots of motivational things on your site to give the people an extra umph!
In this add for food suppliments it says the body cannot absorb this molecule(amino acid?), is this true?
This is what it says below (But this doesn’t seem true because people I know feel completely different after taking these suppliments that they say are broken down and therefore do notwork; the personal research is compltely conflicting with what it says in their add
Copied below:
Supplementing with glutathione in capsules is the next best thing to useless you’ll ever get. It needs to be made within the cells and glutathione from capsules is mostle destroyed by the intestinal barrier, so is not absorbed in quantities that make much difference to intracellular levels.
Taking NAC (n-acetyl-cysteine) is also not very producetive as it is not delivered to the cell wall where it can be absorbed to make a difference on GSH levels.
Therefore, the proven, non-toxic and safe method to increase intracellular GSH is by utilizing the substrates which produced the glutamate-cysteine (glu-cys) residues in sufficient amounts to be impactful.
What takes place is the cystine in GSH (which is two cysteines linked by a double sulfa bond) released during digestion in the gastrointestinal tract is more stable than the free cysteine, because the disulfide bond is pepsin and trypsin (digestive enzymes which normally break things down) resistant and therefore these enzymes are unable to break down this amino acid during the digestive process. This then allows the cysteine to be delivered to the cell where it is then utilized in the synthesis of GSH.
What do you beleive? This is the add

Sounds like a lot of word games and gobbldygook. (That is, nonsense.)
The human body must get 8 essential amino acids through the diet and the other 14 are produced by the body as needed. Infants need higher levels of some….and humans with particular types of diseases may need help with some amino acids which they cannot properly process.
Someone on a strict vegetarian may need special monitoring to see if the proper mix of amino acids is provided by the diet. But a good mix of food sources usually addresses the "numbers" such that protein-deficiencies [proteins are composed of amino acid chains] are considered almost non-existent among well fed populations. You are correct to assume that any product being sold on the premise that humans need some special amino acid supplement in addition to a good diet IS A SCAM. (An exception would be someone with a particular disease such as phenylketonuria.)
It sounds like they want you to believe that the human species has somehow been limping along without their help. Some of the supplement companies try to claim that even though the human body can produce various things on its own, it is somehow "overly taxing" and you should take their supplement to make it easier. This is often the reasoning behind their selling various "enzymes" even though the body usually breaks down the enzymes which happen to be eaten and the enzymes the body needs are manufactured by the body as needed.
As always, look for INDEPENDENT verification of the science — and don’t be fooled by the various bogus "foundations" and "research institutes" that these companies create. Many even publish (and/or fund the publication) of "journals" that only exist to push their products. I have found that some of them even quote non-existent journal articles — or say things like "Harvard University researchers endorsed our product" despite denials from university officials. I’ve even seen claims made on the basis of the Physician’s Desk Reference even though PDR doesn’t even get into the subject matter often falsely attributed to it!
Of course, if a Multi-Level Marketing scheme is involved in distribution (MLM), that is another BIG RED FLAG. Also be suspicious if they emphasize that doctors hate their product because they profit from people staying sick or if they keep saying that doctors get no nutritional training in med school and are taught in a conspiracy to oppose their products — but instead they want you to trust their "certified nutritional consultants" who are specially knowledgable about these things. Some of the "product literature" I’ve been given by such people are filled with typos, misspellings, misuse of medical and biochemical terms, etc……..such that they hardly promote confidence in them!

This site is free and may help you to accomplish what you want in tea format to eliminate having to take so many pills. I like teas better. But if you wish to take them all I suggest that you take them all in the morning but the garlic, pearl. I would also rethink the grape seed and look at this site for an alternative. Good luck!!

Actually the only substances that any data will be available for are those with a USP designation. For things like Vitamin E, this is possible but for things like ginkgo there are no established standards.
Apparently I’m getting a lot of criticism for this…but I’m trying to change my skin color and be white?
Well, I’m a twenty year-old college student who has a somewhat light-brown skin tone (I’m an ethnic Bengali, sooo…Indian-looking?), but I’ve really decided that I would do basically anything to look attractive and feel self-confident about myself, and to be actually *wanted* by pretty girls.
So anyway, I want to be white and actually be attractive…now my question is, what’s the safest way to do that without going all Michael Jackson-y lol ))
I’ve heard that laser skin bleaching was one option, and also glutathione supplements might help. What are some good suggestions?
Oh, and I might see if I can get my eye color changed from boring brown to blue or something, but probably not since my health insurance most likely won’t cover any of it!
No I’m not attractive at all. It’s the truth. I just look in the mirror…and I understand everything…
I just want to be attractive, period. Like, I just want to be white.
That’s such a lie! I mean, girls do say I have an amazing personality, but what’s the point if I’m just going to be friends with them?
You can lighten you skin color by laser and bleaching. Your eyes color an be changed by wearing blue contact lenses. Your lenses might be covered under a health insurance; but the laser resurfacing won’t be.
Are the results with Meladerm® permanent? Do I have to continue using the product after I achieve my desired results?
If you are using Meladerm® to reduce the appearance of hyper-pigmented areas (skin that is darker than your natural skin color), the results will generally be permanent. Some users find it necessary to use small periodic applications from time to time to maintain the effects of the product. Sun exposure should be limited to maintain results. We recommend the use of a sun block of SPF 30 or higher. Extended use may cause excessive skin lightening.
If you want to whiten your complexion, look for a cream that contains extrapone nutgrass. Unlike other whitening ingredients, extrapone nutgrass does not cause irritation. You can enjoy its whitening effects without experiencing any harmful side effects.
If you are looking to lighten your dark skin to a lighter skin tone you might find that black skin bleaching cream can solve your problem.
To whiten dark underarm -
Take the pure juice of Aloe vera and Marigold flower petals crushed and
mixed with Aloe vera ,apply this under the arm on the dark skin at
night bed time keeping the arms wide apart at right angles or above
the head for 2 hours .In the morning you can wash this with little warm
water and dry with a clean soft cotton towel.
Tomato juice mix with little turmeric and honey and apply for 30 -45 min every day and u will feel the difference
In some country there is a roots name bengkoang/tuberous root/Yam Bean. It traditionally used as a mask to lighten the skin.
Why on earth would one want to whiten one’s skin? I suggest you just stay out of the sun and take good care of your skin. It’s no sin to have dark skin. Being fair isn’t more beatiful or anything like that. Don’t be ashamed just because you have dark skin. Just take care of your skin, make sure there aren’t any blemishes or scars, stay out of the sun, eat well and treat your body nicely. Always be greatful with what you have.
Besides, I don’t think it’s a very good idea that you should whiten your skin. It’s not very healthy unless you do it professionally (which isn’t cheap) and if you are looking for cheap solutions I’m afraid white is not the colour you will end up looking. I’ve seen people who do unbelievable things to the skin and put unusual mixtures and concotions on their skin for a ‘cheap and quick fix’. They usually end up with skin so red they look like shrimps.
Furthermore, you’re looking to whiten your skin in too short a time. One week? A drastic change like that isn’t going to happen. Even if it does, i’m sure it’s not going to be healthy for you.
However, if you really do want to whiten your skin, see a specialist who can prescribe you something. If not just go to a pharmacy and get a whitening cream or gel, though it won’t come cheap and you certainly aren’t going to be white in a week’s time.
I really do hope you change your mind and learn to live with your skin colour and love yourself more.
can i take 2 vcaps of glutathione everyday instead of one?
hey guys .. whats up ?
i bought glutathione 500 mg reduced form with milk thistle extract and alpha lipoic acid .. it’s written on the back of it suggested usage: as a dietary supplement , take 1 vcaps daily , preferably with meals . is it ok 2 take 2 caps a day .. ? or it would be dangerous 4 me .. ![]()
It might be ok. Lots of people take up to 1.2g of ALA per day for their youthful skin. More than that is probably useless. As for milk thistle, you can probably take up to 1g safely. Even much more might not be harmful, but I’m not sure. I’ve never heard of it being toxic. Glutathione is very good for you, but I’m not sure about dosage. Maybe you could alternate 1 and 2 pills everyday other day and see how it goes from there.
Metathione can cause cancer?
I am 17 turning 18 and I’ve finished a bottle and a half of Metathione. I’ve decided to know more about the product and I’ve read that it helps cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. But I’ve also read something that says it causes cancer. I don’t know which is true.
Though before I was not using Metathione, I was taking just Glutathione then I changed to Metathione since they say it works better than any glutathione supplements.
So, does it cause cancer? I know there are no evidences that it cures or causes cancer, but do you know any individual who had cancer after taking Metathione?
Before I take Metathione I asked my doctor if it’s all right and he told me it’s fine as long as I take the right dosage. I am taking 2 capsules a day which is 500mg of reduced glutathione and 300mg of Vit. C.
It does nothing to help with cancer, but it will turn you white, as one of the side effects.
is it safe to take glutathione supplements just like ph338 glutathione even if i have seborrhea?
I’m planning of purchasing ph338 glutathione this week. And my seborrheic dermatitis is not that worse.
Thanks!
I am not sure what ph338 glutathione is, but if it is oral glutathione, studies show that it will be destroyed in your gut and will not raise your glutathione levels.
If you would like to raise glutathione, you need to take the building blocks for it. The best studied building blocks are with forms of cysteine.
Dr. Jimmy Gutman is the world’s most published author on the topic of glutathione, and in his bestseller referenced below, he states that "Low levels of GSH (glutathione) have been documented in many types of skin disease, including seborrheic dermatitis." ( Taken from chart that names 14 skin diseases, Table 26, page 191)
So raising your glutathione may indeed help with your condition.
You can learn all about glutathione, and the ways of raising glutathione at the resources below.
